Abstract
Micromachined tunable VCSELs are particularly useful for wavelength division multiplexing applications because of their large continuous wavelength tuning range. Design of these devices requires that the entire system can be modeled and simulated. In this paper a finite element model of a tunable vertical cavity laser diode is created using ANSYS. To study the strongly coupled system level dynamic, reduced order modeling of tunable VCLES is crested and the device performance is studied.
