Abstract :
The bit-error rate (BER) cost function of linear multiuser detectors is considered. It is shown that the minimum-BER (MBER) linear multiuser detection can be converted into a constrained optimization problem. Then the local MBER (LMBER) linear multiuser detector is proposed. And an iteration algorithm for the LMBER detector is developed. It is shown that the iteration algorithm converges to the LMBER detector. Simulation results show that the LMBER detector achieves lower BER than the MMSE detector.
