Abstract
The traditional middleware can´t satisfy the requirements of applications in the wireless environment. How to extend the traditional middleware to make it available in the wireless environment has become the hotspot. Firstly, two different concepts of disconnection and temporary disconnection in the wireless environment are analyzed. Secondly, a FRTD (fast reconnection for the temporary disconnection) mechanism in the wireless environment is discussed, which implements the fast reconnection through giving every client a unique ID and caching the results at the server. Finally, GIOP protocol is extended through adding a session ID transparently in its service context, and the FRTD is implemented in the ORB kernel. The FRTD is also applied to other communication middleware.
