Abstract
This paper develops a systematic analytical method to calculate the harmonic component of controlled single and three phase rectifiers. These analyses are based on the frequency domain linearity, and are greatly simplified through superposition method. The commutation effect considering the AC source impedance of continuous three phase rectifiers can also be analyzed separately. Based on these analyses, simple expressions of the switching angle of discontinuous rectifier and the overlap period of continuous three-phase rectifiers are obtained. All the calculations are purely algebraic, with high accuracy. The simulation results validated the proposed method.
