Abstract
The SMG (synchronous-motor-generator) system is a new rotary type frequency converter that can be used on shipboard. This paper discusses the parallel operation characteristics of the system with double SMG sets. Two excitation control schemes for the generators have been designed, and their effects on the adjustment of active and reactive power sharing are examined. The method of synchronizing connection of the SMG is given as well.
