Abstract
As business organizations need to constantly sustain and improve their competitive advantages, end-users and IT have to work closely to keep up with fast-paced changes. In particular, IT has to understand end-users’ demands and requirements in order to consistently produce functionally complete and error-free applications within the expected timeframe. However, because IT tends to overstress architectural design and focuses too much on cutting edge technology, they often neglect key aspects that matters most to end-users. This research empirically studied the impacts of using advanced Object-Oriented Systems Development (OOSD) on end-users’ perceptions of the effectiveness of ISD processes. Contrary to popular beliefs, our results indicate that using advanced OOSD does not significantly influence the factors that affect end-user perceptions. We hope our study will help IT organizations to better meet their customer needs by helping them to refocus their time and resources on factors that matter.
