Abstract
The RF characteristics of carbon nanotube coated Permalloy nanorod array in porous anodic aluminum oxide were evaluated using coplanar waveguide. The average diameter and length of the Permalloy nanorods was ∼ 10 nm and ∼ 500 nm, respectively. The signal attenuation of the Permalloy nanorod array was 22.4 dB/cm at 20 GHz (stop-band frequency), which was higher than that of 0.5 μm-thick NiZn-ferrite film (15.5 dB/cm). In the pass band frequency region at around 1 GHz, the magnitude of signal attenuation of the Permalloy nanorods array exhibited about 0.5 dB/cm. It is lower than that of the NiZn-ferrite film of 1.2 dB/cm. The propagation wavelength shortening was obtained by NiZn ferrite (60 %) and carbon coated Permalloy nanorod (46.2 %) at 1 GHz.
