  • Abstract
A generalization of the mode matching method (MMM) to combine radial waveguides and guides with axial uniformity is presented. When using this generalized MMM, geometries composed of parts described in a cylindrical coordinate system, and parts described in a rectangular coordinate system, are easily analyzed in the same circuital theory frame. The key of the method is the analysis of a virtual circuit that describes the interaction between cylindrical waves and radial waves and the use of it as building block. The analysis of this virtual circuit is performed though variational formulation based on the concept of reaction.
