Abstract
This paper presents a switched-current circuit design of a discrete chaotic algorithm to generate truly random digital sequences. The design is based on a simple piecewise-linear one-dimensional map which is more suitable to be implemented by switched-current techniques. The optimum parameters of the map are analyzed in detail and chosen according to the special circuit structure to avoid the parasitic stable points. A high-speed linear track-and-hold circuit is applied in the design to improve the speed and accuracy of the random number generator. The circuit is designed in TSMC 0.25 CMOS mixed signal process and simulated by Hspice. The operating clock frequency is 10 MHz and the truly random output bit rate is 2 Mbit/s
