Abstract :
Future wireless networks are expected to support wide range of services in addition to traditional voice service. Call admission control (CAC) is one of the key elements to provide guaranteed quality of service (QoS) in wireless networks. Two important QoS metrics are the blocking rates of new and handoff calls usually referred as overload blocking probabilities. A good CAC scheme has to minimize these blocking rates without under utilization of resources. Bearing this in mind, a predictive call admission mechanism using a dynamic resource reservation approach in a multiservice environment is proposed and investigated. Simulation results are drawn to emphasis the significance of the proposed scheme in terms of blocking probabilities and resource utilized.
