  • Abstract
The use of multimedia courseware in teaching and learning environment has contributed and reformed conventional education sector into a new dimension. The courseware used as computer assisted instruction (CAI) and computer assisted learning (CAL) tools gave positive impact toward the understanding and creative thinking for the student. Hence, lots of courseware being developed but only a small number of courseware emphasis on user interface design that suitable for the user interests and preferences. As a result, many courseware developed is failed and not suitable to be use in school. Thus, this research integrates user adaptively technique with storytelling approach in developing multimedia courseware based on diversity of user interface approach. User adaptively techniques allow the user-system interaction to be adapted to different user and different usage situation, while storytelling approach used to attract user toward the content delivered. The courseware could also be used as CAI-CAL in religious subject in Malaysia primary school. Targeted users are Malaysian student in year 5 and 6 within the age of 11 to 12 years old. The courseware developed based on modified instructional model and consists of four main modules. Based on user adaptively technique, the courseware gives a few option for the user according to their preferences and then by giving a simple activities, it identifies the type of user either graphic or interactivity person. The framework design and instructional model employed in developing the courseware could generate new perspective in multimedia courseware production. Whereas the interactive religious content incorporated in the prototype could attract the interest of the student to learn the subject matter in order to produce excellence student with good attitude for the sake of the country in developing a knowledge and success society
