Abstract
This investigation presents a compact (30 × 30 mm2) microstrip-fed slot antenna design for dualband wireless local area network (2.4 / 5.2 / 5.8 GHz) applications. Two dissimilar inverted L-shaped slots and a mushroom-shaped slot were loaded into the antenna. By feeding these slots with a microstrip-fed line that was analogous to a sling hook, three resonant modes were excited at exactly 2.44, 5.25 and 5.8 GHz, which formed lower and upper operating bands with 10 dB bandwidths of 5.67 and 25.14%, respectively. The process of designing the proposed antenna is explicitly shown, and parametric studies were carried out by simulation. Typical experimental measurements were also conducted and compared with the simulated results.
