Abstract
In high-speed CDMA wireless communication systems, inter-symbol interference may become serious because of the usage of spreading sequence with small spreading factor. Channel shortening technology is an effective way to suppress ISI and improve system performance. A novel adaptive IIR channel shortening algorithm is proposed in this paper to conquer floor effect in existing channel shortening algorithms and then the application of this algorithm to SIMO systems is discussed. After that, another improved SIMO channel shortening algorithm with virtual channels is proposed to offer better system performance. Simulation results show that the two algorithms work better than conventional FIR channel shortening algorithm in SIMO environment
