Abstract
Neighborhood is a widely used and commonly understood concept in almost every network. Yet there is no formal clear definition of this concept for P2P networks. Here we present a conceptual and yet formal definition for neighborhood in P2P networks and will show that the definition will fit well in almost all its existing applications and definitions from other authors. The definition is mainly useful for unifying the various current definitions of neighborhood, classifying the protocols and comparing them
