Abstract :
In this paper, we design and verify the 40Gbit/s experimental system using ETDM (electrical time division multiplexing) transmitter and receiver, CS-RZ (carrier-suppressed return-to-zero) modulation, EFEC (enhanced forward error correction) and hybrid amplifier/EDFA (erbium-doped fiber amplifier) over 500 km true-wave fiber composed of five spans of 100 km. Also, we evaluate and demonstrate the upgrade from existing 10 Gbit/s channel to 40 Gbit/s channel of OADM (optical add/drop multiplexer) network without changing inherent design
