  • Abstract
Compression of optical pulse in a mode-locked fiber laser constructed from photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) is investigated experimentally. In the experiment, photonic crystal fiber is used as an intracavity compression media. The high nonlinearity and anomalous dispersion of the photonic crystal fiber can cause intracavity compression resulting in a significant reduction in the pulse width. The pulses duration at the repletion rate of 10 GHz was less than 10 ps over a range of 1532-1565 nm
