Abstract
Most of current catching-up researches focuses on explaining how developing countries have tried to catch up with advanced countries by technological catching-up or market catching-up. This paper examines the experiences of Chinese Digital TV industry and introduces a third catching-up called architectural catching-up which means an integrated consideration of self-configuration and external resource and environment. Using this strategy, Chinese firms have won in the competition with foreign first movers, and this should be a good inspiration for developing countries and firms
