Abstract
A control strategy based on pulse density modulation (PDM) is established for an AC/AC converter to control the load power and optimize the power factor of the current drawn from the AC-supply. The control law use earlier developed method to optimize the power factor. A genetic algorithm (GA) which is direct calculation method is applied to find best power factor. In this paper the GA is employed to reach the global minimum. We propose an alternative direct method based on contraction and expansion of a mesh and we compare it with the GA method
