Abstract :
3G and beyond cellular mobile wireless networks are expected to provide a diverse range of multimedia services to mobile users with guaranteed quality of service (QoS). In this paper, a novel dynamic priority-oriented call admission control (DP-CAC) for 3G wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) systems is proposed and investigated. Two important concepts, i.e. the current load occupied by each traffic class (O) and the predefined fixed load partition for each traffic class (L), are investigated and used to derive the priority of each traffic class dynamically. This dynamic prioritization call admission control (DP-CAC) scheme combines QoS negotiation, service differentiation and efficient utilization of the system resources. Simulation is conducted by C++ to study the performance of the proposed DP-CAC in terms of system utilization, and grade of service (GoS). Results indicate the superiority of DP-CAC as it is able to achieve a better balance between system utilization, revenue and quality of service provisioning
