Abstract
This paper thoroughly analyses the MUSIC-LIKE algorithm based on the fourth order cumulant and the principle of uniform linear array extension. An improved algorithm is presented that can convert the fourth cumulant matrix of M2 times M2 into the (2M - 1) times (2M times 1) matrix. The method keeps the amount of the virtual element of MUSIC-LIKE algorithm to uniform linear array and eliminates massive redundant data as well. Computer simulations show that the extension ability of this method is the same as MUSIC-LIKE and that the method reduces the time and computation cost
