  • Abstract
Medical institutions are developing devices for monitoring patients in hospitals, and also for remote healthcare, by which patients can be treated at their home. In this paper, we propose an improved context-aware healthcare system that has evolved by collaboration between the JADE and OSGi frameworks. The existing healthcare systems provide very passive services and suffer from incompatibility among systems, because of the differing standards between the systems. In this research, we explain why by applying the JADE to the healthcare system, we provide effective management and automated services. Also, our proposed healthcare system is not limited by platform or application program, because of the installation of the OSGi framework onto the surrogate system. To gain the advantages provided by different frameworks, we apply two frameworks to our healthcare system, and develop interoperability technology between the OSGi and JADE to share services among the frameworks.
