Abstract :
Personal localization is key for context aware services in intelligent environments. Dead reckoning approaches are error prone due to the incremental integration error. In this paper an approach based on independent estimations of each step length is applied to avoid the unbounded growth of error, by means of a pendulum model of human gait. A wearable device has been developed, and field experiments have been carried out. The feasibility of the approach is discussed
