Abstract
Commercial buildings are fixed installations under the new EMC Directive 2004/108/EC, and the UK Regulations SI 2006 No. 3418 that implement it. This paper describes the requirements in the new legislation that affect fixed installations from 20 July this year. There are new responsibilities placed on those responsible for fixed installations, and in some cases relaxed requirements for apparatus that comprises them. The responsibilities and documentation requirements placed on manufacturers, owners and users will be described, and guidance on how to interpret these requirements and comply with them will be provided.
