Abstract
A new semi-deterministic model with two deterministic clusters and stochastic arriving rays within each cluster, which fits UltRa Lab of university of Southern California indoor UWB measurements well, is proposed based on time-domain geometrical optics (GO) technique. With the additional knowledge of the specific environment geometry, the semi-deterministic model is more accurate in modelling small-scale line-of-sight (LOS) environment than traditional statistical model when considering the statistics of the mean excess delay spread, RMS delay spread and the number of significant multipaths observed in the UWB channel, at the same time it needs less accurate topographical databases than traditional deterministic model which means much saving of computational time during modelling. In addition, the parameters of the model can be more easily obtained from the data than SV/802.15.3a model by means of reducing the number of them.
