Abstract
Diabetes management has been playing an important role on preventing or delaying occurrence of the life threatening diabetes complications. By providing a roaming operation environment, mobile healthcare technologies can bring efficiencies and convenience to both diabetics and relative medics on diabetes management. This paper briefly introduces a system called MDMIS that operates across Bluetooth and live GPRS networks for pervasive diabetes management. As the major contribution of this work, a comprehensive study on system performance of MDMIS in real world networking environments is carried out. The main purpose of this study is to examine the quality of service of MDMIS for daily diabetes management. Experimental results show that the application of Bluetooth/GPRS in mobile disease management is feasible.
