Abstract
In Central Eastern Europe as the need exists to extend, maintain and/or upgrade existing highway networks and the national trunk systems in line with the growing Trans-European network, a strong drive forward is being made to introduce tolling in various countries as a means to finance these transport objectives. The presentation will provide an overview of the major tolling projects in the region currently, in Czech Republic and the upcoming tolling schemes for Slovakia and Hungary and the financial, technical and "European" aspects of implementing such systems today, also in view of the planned European Electronic Toll Service.
