Abstract
This paper proposes a dual-output trans-impedance amplifier (TIA) to provide amplified voltage signal and reference signal simultaneously to implement compact and cost-effective CMOS optical receiver. Using proposed dual-output TIA, an optical receiver was designed and fabricated in a standard 0.25muum CMOS technology. The receiver achieves the pulse width distortion within plusmn 3% against wide frequency range from DC to 20Mbps as well as wide dynamic range from -30.00dBm to -23.01dBm. The measured results confirm that applying this technique in digital audio interface can make the optical receiver more small and economical.
