Abstract
Patent research is one of the most important processes to understand the state of the art for research and development. However, traditional searching strategies are not systematic in an effective way. This paper proposes a heuristic method for patent research so far by integrating the text mining and heterogenous information. The results show that this new method can provide more strategic and technological information for researchers to discover their chances during the process of new product development.
