Abstract
In many instances, the ADSS cables are installed on the high voltage line. Because of the lack of the space, the distance between the line and the ADSS cable depends on the voltage. The cable is surrounded by a wire structure, which equalizes the distribution of the mechanical load. In a polluted environment, dry band arcing occurs, when fog or dew occasionally wets the cable. This also causes cable deterioration[l-4][7]. The conditions in the field were modeled in a HV laboratory at Arizona State University. The laboratory tests replicated the dry band arcing caused cable deterioration. In this paper the analysis of the experimental results are presented.
