Abstract
International visitors in a foreign country often run into an unfamiliar situation and needs to know how to handle it appropriately in the context of a particular culture. This paper describes the development of an intelligent Cultural Advisor online System tested in the domain of Iraqi culture. With a knowledge base, a database, and a case base, this system assumes the role of a hypothetical cultural advisor simulating a local resident in a particular society. It can give advice, upon request, on the topics including but not limited to history, religion, social customs, ethnicity, geography and beliefs.
