Abstract
A simple all-optical clock recovery circuit consisting of a Fabry-Perot or ring resonator followed by a quantum dot amplifier in the saturation regime is proposed and simulated. The scheme uses the combination of strong gain saturation that can be achieved in a quantum dot amplifier and the ultrafast gain recovery in the saturation regime due to the recovery time being related to the capture, not recombination time. Clock recovery at bit rates of 80+ Gb/s has been simulated.
