Abstract
A system of turning vibration control is researched and designed in this paper for solving the low machining precision problem caused by vibration disturbance. A giant magnetostrictive actuator (GMA) using in the system satisfied the vibration control requirement well. The actuator and the cutting tool are placed in a special tool holder that is characterized with flexible hinge structure. In the paper, the overall design of the tool holder system is completed, and then the mathematical models of the actuator and the tool holder are presented. According to the immune principle, a immune PID controller is proposed to match the tool holder system. Finally, this turning vibration control system is simulated using Simulink software. The research result demonstrates that it can effectively suppress turning vibration in some frequency range.
