Abstract
Recently, the three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor (IM) is being widely used. The source of noise in small IMs is generally electromagnetic vibrations that are produced by the electromagnetic force due to the interaction of harmonic fluxes in the air gap, of which the main cause is the existence of the stator and rotor slots in small IM. When a distorted voltage is supplied to the IM, the time-harmonic voltages in the distorted voltage waveform cause of harmonic fluxes. In addition, the load condition of the IM affects the electromagnetic force. In the present paper, the effect of the load condition and the harmonic voltage on the electromagnetic vibration is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. As a result, the relationship of the acceleration value of the dominant electromagnetic vibration with the power factor and the phase angle of the time- harmonic voltage is clarified.
