Abstract :
A Limited frequency current controller suitable for Switched Reluctance Motor Drives (SRD) is introduced in the paper. Chop frequency upper limit of the controller is fixed, but the chopping frequency will change low according the winding current and rotor speed. The controller eliminates the unnecessary chopping at high rotor speed and limits the chop ping frequency at low speed. A Matlab simulation model and Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD-based test system is used for validation of the new methods. The new current controller has the advantage of low cost, high dynamic performance and low switch losses.
