Abstract
This paper proposes to use PWM rectifier to replace the diode rectifier in the cascaded H-bridge multilevel converter in order to regenerate the power from the load to the grid. The rectifier in this paper employs the leakage reactance of the secondary windings of the input transformer instead of physical reactor because of the large number of the reactors needed by the PWM rectifier in a cascaded H-bridge multilevel converter. Voltage oriented control (VOC) is used to obtain the good performance of the control system.
