Abstract
This paper establishes a mathematical model to fast compute the cogging torque in permanent magnet brushless DC (BLDC) motor. A novel rotor structure is presented to reduce the cogging torque effectively, and the computing waveforms of cogging torque are drawn. The validity of this technique is proved by the comparison of cogging torque for many cases with and without split skewed rotor.
