Abstract
A prototype of application components, which enable the interaction of a handheld device client through a proxy with a market middleware and application services, is described. The architecture proposes a proxy as intermediary between client and given service infrastructure. A client (handheld device) issues a number of related consecutive requests for an application execution to a service intermediary (proxy). Then, several interactions between the proxy and the middleware and the application service are carried out until the client´s request is finally executed. We show by the implementation of a case study a way of integration handheld devices into a complex service infrastructure which offers WSRF-based application services. Interestingly, for the integration of the heterogeneous client we require adapting only the proxy component of the service providing infrastructure.
