Abstract
In this communication we compare the performance of classical genetic algorithms (cGA) with a new type of evolutionary algorithms named hybrid Taguchi genetic algorithms (HTGA) when they are applied to the design of a a new ultrawideband (UWB) thin-wire bow-tie antenna for GPR applications. The broadband performance of the antenna is achieved by resistive loading and by optimizing the number of wires and the angular distances between those wires.
