Abstract
In this work, novel potentialities of dielectric resonators are investigated for their possible use in active antennas, as an alternative to patch configurations. The main problem of avoiding spurious radiation at multiple harmonics is analysed here in connection with suitable modifications of the basic geometries, involving notching or, more generally, insertions of dielectric sectors with different permittivity. Comparisons have been carried out on the relevant radiation performances, emphasizing which solutions seem to be more promising.
