Abstract
By the use of the modified edge representation (MER) concept, originally proposed as expression of the physical optics (PO) diffraction component, authors have found new formulations for the geometrical optics (GO) reflected rays in terms of the MER line integrals. The results are valid for the planar and also the smooth scattering surfaces. In this article a new geometrical optic criterion is proposed, which guaranties the good accuracy of the MER line integrals to the GO reflected field when the scattering surface is smooth.
