Abstract
This paper presents a topology design scheme (HeteTopo) for QoS-based heterogeneity issues in overlay multicast. The scheme aims at constructing a topology tree with differentiated QoS support for heterogeneous multicast service while optimizing the related tree cost metrics. HeteTopo firstly leverages the QoS into three service levels before initially forming the topology, and then implements a QoS-based access control strategy dynamically during maintaining the topology. Simulation experiments demonstrate the scheme achieves better heterogeneous QoS support with lower topology degree (representing access bandwidth resource) cost.
