Abstract :
One of the main functions of pumped storage power station is to provide black-start ancillary service in power systems with a larger proportion of thermal generators. However, the reserve water for black-start has significant influence on the other function of pumped storage power station, such as peak load shifting. Taking black-start benefits and static benefits into account synthetically, a mathematical model which can make the integrative benefits to be largest of optimal reserve water is constructed. In order to meet the requirements of project, a simplified calculation method for black-start benefits is proposed. Simulation results of the practical Shandong power grid in China demonstrate that the proposed method is reasonable.
