Abstract
Negative index metamaterial (NIM) has been designed to have polarization insensitive operation for normal incident waves in the optical communication wavelength region. The designed metamaterial has an effective refractive index of Re(n)=-1 and a ratio of-Re{n}/Im{n} = 5.2 at about 1500 nm.
