Abstract
A K-band to Ku-band switchable microstrip bandpass filter is designed and fabricated. The filter response is switched using MEMS cantilever capacitive switches. The filter design and fabrication procedures are briefly discussed. The measured filter achieves 36.2 % of frequency switching range and exhibits insertion losses of 0.6 and 1.0 dB at 21.85 and 15.15 GHz respectively. To the best of our knowledge, the reported filter has the best insertion loss characteristic of all MEMS tunable microwave filters to date. The 6.7 GHz switched frequency band is also the widest absolute frequency range for MEMS tunable filters reported to date.
