Abstract :
This paper employs the DEA method to measure energy use efficiency in Chinese provinces from the perspective of energy-saving and emission-reduction. Concretely, an index that reflects energy-saving and emission-reduction is introduced to analyze a cross-section of data that cover 30 provinces in China. This index is more instructive in showing a measure of energy usage in different provinces, compared to a method that does not use this type of index. This method gives a different outcome compared to the previous method for Beijing, Hainan and Qinghai. This conclusion is an important reference for the measurement of the actual result of the practice of energy-saving and emission-reduction in China, and this method may be preferable by providing us with additional insights.
