Abstract
In the course of measurement, there are some shortages of sphere probe contact measurement and laser non-contact measurement. With a sphere probe, the speed and efficiency are too low, while for a laser probe, the equipment cost is high and the precision is affected by sewage such as cutting fluid, floating chips etc. To solve these problems, the measurement theory for complex surface is discussed and a new method is presented. An annular roller probe is used to obtain the data of complex surface. A mathematical model is set up and a reverse engineering algorithm is presented for complex surface measurement. With this measuring method, the on-line, on-machine measurement and rapid survey on manufacturing spot can be actualized easily for some rotary workpieces with complex surface.
