Abstract :
The Common Industrial Protocol (CIP™) networks, DeviceNet™, ControlNet™, and EtherNet/IP™ are enjoying global popularity as open industrial network solutions. This paper will review recent developments to the CIP protocols, including CIP Sync, CIP Motion and CIP Safety. The focus of the paper will be upon EtherNet/IP, the CIP protocol utilising TCP/UDP/IP over Ethernet.
