Abstract
This paper addresses the impact of turn-on and conduction angles on the torque production for a novel disk-type rotor SRM. This topology utilizes a conventional 3-phase winding strategy for the 12/8 SRM; however, with a substantially different rotor structure that seeks to maximize the saliency ratio between the stator and rotor poles. Prior to addressing the turn-on, or switching on, and conduction angle selections, there will be a brief review of disk-type rotor SRMs topology and operability.
