Abstract
The purpose of this paper concerns the development of ultra wide band (UWB) location system operating in the 60-GHz frequency band and based on the exploitation of impulse radio (IR) signal dedicated to radio-communications. The first part of this paper deals with experimental results of TDOA (time difference of arrival) performed at 60-GHz using a UWB-FMCW (frequency modulation continuous waves). A second part purposes a the evolution towards a UWB location system based on impulse radio up-converted at 60 GHz: experimental results demonstrate the performance of both the UWB-FM and IR-FM systems.
