Abstract
Pulse compression is a promising technique with advantages of high resolution and low peak power. Sidelobe levels are expected to be as low as possible to suppress strong clutters around the target. In this paper, a matched NLFM pulse compression method is put forward that uses Gaussian and sinc functions as the spectral density of the NLFM waveforms. Ultralow sidelobes below -60 dB are obtained with no loss in SNR. Simulation analysis of sidelobe suppression and the Doppler tolerance is presented. Simulation results and hardware implementation show the feasibility and applicability of the generated waveforms.
